Operational since 1967, McGarrah Elementary School, formerly known as Lake Harbin Elementary School, is a learning center that provides academic instruction to students in pre-kindergarten through grade five. It offers the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program. The school's media center provides an accelerated reader program that is used to monitor and guide reading practices and help students in improving reading abilities. It has a counseling department that employs guidance counselors who serve teachers and parents by offering information that assists in meeting the academic and emotional needs of students. McGarrah Elementary School operates a student council. It has a parent-teacher association that works for the overall development of the school, as well as provides financial assistance to the school by organizing various fundraising events and activities. The school is governed by Clayton County Public Schools, which operates through curriculum, human resources, school nutrition, technology and transportation departments. |
