Mather Elementary School is one of the oldest public elementary schools in the United States. It enrolls more than 480 students in kindergarten through grade five, as well as offers seven specialty classes. It offers classes in music, art, physical education, science, library and computers and assists parents in securing dental and eye care. The school s additional programs include tutoring, mentoring and nutrition education for students. It involves parent in various organizations, such as a school site council, student support team and parent council. The school works with the Log School Adult Education Program to provide English as a Second Language classes for parents. It also organizes publishing parties, workshops, literacy and math nights and an open house for parents. The school is a part of Boston Public Schools and is located in Dorchester, Mass. |
