House in the Wood Camp is a resident, coeducation summer camp that serves urban children from Chicago. Its campers range from ages seven through 12 with a leadership program for 13 to 17 year olds. In addition to the outdoor and waterfront programs at House in the Wood Camp, the campers learn a variety of social and living skills. During the offseason, the camp operates as a conference and retreat center. Each of its rental groups has exclusive use of the entire campus. They can customize their rental to meet their specific needs and can choose from a variety of living and meeting options. The camp also serves standard and vegetarian menus. House in the Wood is operated by the Northwestern University Settlement. Its main sponsor is the North Shore Board of the Settlement. |
