 O.A. Thorp Academy is an educational institution that provides a range of academic and enrichment programs for students in kindergarten through grade eight in Chicago. It has an enrollment of more than 800 students. The academy conducts art, music, library, and computer and physical education classes. O.A. Thorp Academy also offers classes in science, geography and mathematics. It additionally provides special education programs for children with learning, emotional and behavioral disorders and disabilities. The academy operates a student council and service club and science and computer laboratories. O.A. Thorp Academy organizes field trips and contests in the areas of writing, spelling and oration. It has a parent-teacher association that sponsors an annual book fair and plans fundraising events.
