Founded in 1977, Felines Inc. is a licensed cageless, no-kill cat shelter located on the north side of Chicago. As a non-profit 501 (c ), we are funded through adoption fees, fundraising events, foundations, and the generous tax-deductible donations of caring individuals like yourself. We do not receive any federal or state funding. Felines Inc., now in our 33rd year of operation, cares for approximately 130 cats and kittens in our two-story house. Our small but dedicated staff (including Executive Director, adoption counselors, caretakers, development personnel, and cleaners ) work diligently to attend to the daily needs of the cats and shelter operations. We are very fortunate to have a wonderful team of volunteers that spend the time with our cats, helping to heal the bodies and souls of the injured, abandoned, abused and neglected cats brough to us. Volunteers also play an invaluable role in the socializing of shy cats. Our goal is to find the right lasting and loving home for each of our residents. We work carefully with our adopters to find the right cat for them, with the understanding that a lifelong relationship is about to begin. Our staff follows up on all adoptions and is always available for consultations to help ease the cat's transition into its new home. All cats admitted to Felines Inc. are examined by a vet, spayed or neutered, and kept up-to-date on all vaccines. Most of the procedures are carried out on the premises by a skilled team of vets and vet techs. True to our no-kill policy, cats that test positive for FIV are not euthanized, but enjoy a full and active life in a specially designated room in the shelter. If you would like to be a part of our life saving mission, whether as a donor, a volunteer, or an adopter, please contact us at (773 ) 465-4132. We invite you to tour our house and meet the Felines Inc. family. Milkshake is a young, short-haired black kitty, approximately 1 years old. She has a luxurious, silky soft coat and bright yellow eyes. A trace of white fur on her chest is the only marking on this black beauty. A little hesitant at first, she will slowly approach you for pets on her own time; then she won't want to leave! Milkshake likes people as well as other cats and would do best in a quiet, consistent home. |
