Spring Independent School District, established in 1935, consists of more than 30 schools that include career academies, early learning centers and elementary, middle and high schools. It has an enrollment of over 30,000 students in grades kindergarten through 12. The district provides a curriculum that includes English, social studies, mathematics, science, arts and humanities, physical and technical education and computers. The extracurricular activities offered by the district include backpack book programs, safety patrol, book fairs, student and family counseling, spring carnival, outdoor camps, reading assistance and after school tutoring programs. The district has various departments that include business and financial services; child nutrition; planning and curriculum development; police; special education; and technology and transportation. The athletic department offers a variety of sports activities, such as basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, bowling, football and cheerleading.
