River Oaks Elementary School is located in Houston, Texas and is part of the Houston Independent School District. It enrolls more than 600 students in grades kindergarten through five. Student-teacher ratio in the school is 15-to-1. It is one of the first three elementary schools in Texas to have an authorization for the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program. The school has a nature center, with various plants, insects and smaller animals in it. It also has a hydroponics laboratory and an urban harvest garden. Founded in 1928, River Oaks Elementary was one of the first schools in Houston to develop a comprehensive outdoor classroom for its students. |
