 Edgar Allan Poe Elementary offers various learning programs for students in prekindergarten through grade five. It provides special classes in music, art, physical education and Spanish. The school s physical education programs equip students with lifelong skills in fitness and recreation. Its music classes are based on perception, creative expression, cultural heritage and critical evaluation. The school s speech pathologists provide therapy for children who have been identified as having deficits in the areas of sound production and language skills. Edgar Allan Poe Elementary also operates a literacy laboratory that supports teachers, students and parents in the quest of developing independent readers. The school is located in Houston and is managed by the Houston Independent School District.
