Established in 1968, Brent Elementary School is a learning center that serves more than 200 students in pre-kindergarten through grade six. Its academic curriculum includes reading, writing, math, science, English, social studies, health, physical education, music, computer technology and language arts. The school offers English as a Second Language and special education programs for gifted and talented students. It maintains a library that provides curriculum-related materials and a variety of leisure reading options for students. The school s staff includes custodians, counselors, coordinators, psychologists and social workers. It is a part of the District of Columbia Public Schools, which serves over 100,000 students through nearly 190 elementary, middle and high schools.
