A genre that thrives on fog, shadow, and intrigue, noir greats Laura and Dark Passage were set here in the City, sometimes in these very neighborhoods. Indeed, the murder that kicks off The Maltese Falcon, perhaps the most famous noir of them all, takes place only a few blocks east from California Street’s door. |
