Congregation Emanu-El, established in 1926, is a synagogues and communal center offering worship and spiritual services to Jewish community throughout California. It offers religious activities, Shabbat services, literacy and advocacy, family programs, youth education and activities, studies of Mitzvot and Tzedakah, and cemetery services. It provides Jewish education and tutoring programs through the Jewish Coalition for Literacy, and offers a variety of cultural activities and environmental programs. The synagogue undertakes hunger and poverty eradication programs, community-based projects, and organizes concerts, life cycle celebrations, performances and guest lectures. Congregation Emanu-El is located in San Fransisco, and operates schools, museums, food pantries and vegetable gardens. |
