Dr. Julia Hallisy was born and raised in San Francisco and obtained her BS in Biological Science from the University of San Francisco in 1984. She also obtained a second Bachelor’s degree in Dental Sciences from the University of California. In 1988, Dr. Hallisy received her Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the University of California at San Francisco School of Dentistry. Since then, she has been in continuous private practice in San Francisco, California. Dr. Hallisy enjoys seeing children and adults and has patients who represent several generations of the same family. Dr. Hallisy is licensed by the Dental Board of California and is a member of the San Francisco Dental Society, The California Dental Association, The American Dental Association and the UCSF Dental Alumni Association. Dr. Hallisy is committed to and passionate about the subjects of dentistry, oral health and patient safety. Her personal and professional goals include working diligently to help patients maintain their dental health and to give all patients a voice in healthcare solutions. Dr. Hallisy began to research the topic of patient safety in 1998 and has worked with the California Nurses Association and provided testimony at San Francisco City Hall at the request of Senator Barbara Boxer to promote the passage of legislation for a Patients’ Bill of Rights. In 2006, Dr. Hallisy was a recipient of a scholarship from the National Patient Safety Foundation to attend their annual national congress as a consumer advocate. Dr. Hallisy has worked with AARP on “empowered patient†training and has lobbied for health care safety in Washington, DC with Consumers Union. In 2009, Dr. Hallisy formed a non-profit organization, The Empowered Patient Coalition, dedicated to providing educational and advocacy resources for the public. Dr. Hallisy lives in San Francisco with her husband, John Hallisy, and their two sons, Daniel and Kevin.Genderfemale |
