Established in 1866, Laguna Honda Hospital is a 1,000-plus-bed hospital, rehabilitation center, hospice and long-term nursing facility. It is owned and operated by the city and county of San Francisco. The hospital provides a range of supportive, ancillary, outpatient and rehabilitative services. It also offers respite and adult day care programs. Laguna Honda Hospital operates Laguna Honda Hospital Volunteers, which is a nonprofit organization that serves more than 1,000 long-term care residents of Laguna Honda Hospital. It provides funds for vocational rehabilitation, weekly outings, holiday gifts, the library and coffee cart, birthday celebrations, bingo, beauty and barber shops, special classes and the gift shop.
