Los Angeles based Metropolitan Theatres Corporation has been a privately held company owned by the Corwin family since 1923. Metropolitan currently operates 24 theatres with 115 screens in California, Colorado, Idaho, Utah, and British Columbia. In September 2003, the Company formed two strategic partnerships with Rocky Mountain Resort Cinemas of Sun Valley, Idaho, to build unique state-of-the-art cinemas in ski resort areas of the Western United States and Canada. The United States entity, Metropolitan/Rocky Mountain Cinemas, currently owns and operates the five-screen Isis Theatre in Aspen, Colo., the Ski Time Cinema in Ketchum, Idaho, the Redstone 8 Cinemas in Park City, Utah, and the Big Wood 4 in Hailey, Idaho. A new six-screen stadium-seat theatre, the Wild Horse Cinemas, is currently being built in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The partners Canadian company, Resort Cinemas of Whistler, owns and operates the Village 8 Cinemas in Whistler, British Columbia, and the Garibaldi 5 in Squamish, British Columbia. |
