Dr. Birnbaum was born and raised in New York. At the age of 16, he decided he wanted to become a dentist.
After undergraduate university study from 1988-1992, he attended dental school at Columbia University, graduating in 1998 with the degree Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) and Master in Public Health (M.P.H.).
Dr. Birnbaum completed a Residency in General Practice Dentistry and Fellowship in Dental Medicine at St. Lukes-Roosevelt Hospital Center (now Mount Sinai Hospital) in 1999.
He first worked for several years as a hospital dentist, for private practices and as an instructor/Assistant Clinical Professor of Dentistry at Columbia University.
He is Past-President of the Eastern Dental Society of Manhattan and served for a number of years as a Member of the Board of the New York County Dental Society component of the New York State Dental Association, a member society of the American Dental Association.
Dr. Birnbaum is currently Assistant Attending on staff at Mount Sinai Hospital. He opened his own private practice in 2006.
