Founded in 1970, Village Community School is an independent, nonprofit educational corporation chartered by the Board of Regents of the State of New York. It serves more than 300 students in kindergarten through grade eight. The school offers several academic subjects, such as social studies, arts, computers, English, foreign languages, mathematics and science. Its library stocks more than 20,000 volumes. In addition, the school organizes summer camps. Village Community School is approved by the New York State Association of Independent Schools and the Board of Education. The school is a member of Early Steps, Interschool Faculty Diversity Search, the Guild for Independent Schools of New York City and the National Association of Independent Schools.
