 Cordero Community School has an enrollment of more than 650 students in prekindergarten through grade eight. It offers a range of academic programs and before- and after-school activities to promote students achievements. The school s second grade uses parallel block scheduling to reduce class size in reading and math and provides basic skills assistance to all children. Its middle school elective program focuses on career readiness and self-management skills in several areas related to photography, culinary arts, entertainment, journalism, business, finance and community service. The school s special needs department provides assistance to those students who require a modified learning environment. Cordero Community School also organizes dance shows, Halloween parades, scholastic bowls and multicultural luncheons. Located in Jersey City, N.J., the school has more than 70 teachers.
