 P.S. 289 George V. Brower offers elementary education to more than 800 students in prekindergarten through grade five. It offers specialized programs related to reading, computer applications, math and science. The school also operates literacy, leadership and tutoring programs. It additionally operates various extracurricular groups in tennis, chess, poetry, drama and knitting. Founded in 1958, P.S. 289 George V. Brower features more than 175 teachers. It is spread across an area of over 96,000 square feet and is located in Brooklyn, N.Y. The school is managed by The New York City Department of Education, which operates approximately 1,400 educational facilities.
