Located in the heart of Harlem, Shrine World Music Venue is housed in the former headquarters of Harlem's largest Black charity, the Black United Fund Plaza, and inspired by the music venue and home of Nigerian artist, Fela Kuti, the founder of Afrobeat music. While Shrine is steeped in tradition, it also serves as a gathering place for up-and-coming artists and residents of Harlem, old and new. On any given night, one might be treated to the live sounds of classic big band jazz, roots reggae, old school funk, a folk singer-songwriter or contemporary soul. Be sure to have one of our signature cocktails, the Muslim-Jew or the Afro Trip, while noshing on classic bar food like the Fela Burger or wings, or if you're into more Mediterranean fare, try the Yotenga Toast or Jerusalem Toast. |
